About montessori education
Montessori education recognises children as active participants in their own learning. It gives them opportunities to choose purposeful activities, practise skills and develop independence within a carefully prepared environment.
The educator’s role involves observing children, recognising their needs and offering appropriate guidance. The organisation of the space, the materials available and the time children have to concentrate all contribute to their learning experience.
Studying this approach offers an opportunity to reflect on how everyday interactions and learning environments can support children’s confidence, participation and growing independence.
