About Declan Fitzpatrick
Declan Fitzpatrick devoted his career to the pursuit of knowledge and the empowerment of students. A former teacher at Ashfield College, part of the City College Dublin community – Declan was renowned for his passion, kindness, and unwavering dedication to helping students reach their full potential.
Many of his former students have gone on to achieve great success across diverse professional fields, including law. The Declan Fitzpatrick Memorial Scholarship was established in his memory to continue his mission of inspiring and supporting future generations of learners.
Applicants are invited to submit a written statement (maximum 1,500 words) outlining why they believe:
- They deserve the scholarship
- Their motivation and aspirations for pursuing a career in law
This prestigious scholarship is awarded annually to one outstanding student enrolling in the City College Dublin FE1 Programme.
Applications will be reviewed by a distinguished panel comprising:

Both Mr. Duff and Mr. Burke hold Declan’s memory in the highest esteem and will ensure a fair, thoughtful, and rigorous selection process.
- The scholarship covers the full cost of tuition for all eight subjects within the FE1 Programme at City College Dublin.
- The scholarship will be disbursed in instalments directly towards tuition fees at City College Dublin.
- The scholarship is open to all applicants seeking enrolment in the City College Dublin FE1 Programme.
- Applicants must meet all admission requirements for the FE1 Programme as outlined by City College Dublin.
- Applicants must be ordinarily residents in the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland to be eligible for the Scholarship.
- Acceptance of the scholarship signifies agreement to all terms and conditions outlined here.
- The scholarship recipient is required to maintain good academic standing throughout the FE1 Programme. Failure to do so may result in the revocation of the scholarship.
- The scholarship recipient may be required to participate in promotional activities related to the scholarship program, such as providing a testimonial or attending scholarship award events.
- The scholarship recipient agrees to ethical use of the scholarship funds for educational purposes only.
- City College Dublin will maintain the confidentiality of all applicant information in accordance with data protection regulations.
- City College Dublin reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time without prior notice.
