The Enterprise: Design and Innovation module in an accounting degree explores the intersection of creativity, entrepreneurship, and financial acumen in developing innovative business solutions. Indicative Syllabus

Introduction to Innovation

This aspect of the programme will define and discuss the various types of innovation and creativity. In addition, principals of divergent and convergent thinking practices will be identified.

Innovation and the Creative Process

Understand the link between creativity and innovation. Various creative models, such as Wallas’ four Stage Sequence are explored. In addition, the learner will examine creative problem techniques, such as De Bono’s six thinking hats, and their implications. The learner will also explore how to systematically evaluate potential ideas garnered in the creative process.

Application of Innovation

Understand the process of developing new innovations and strategies to manage them. Develop an understanding of creative teamwork and acknowledge differing team roles in the process.

Enterprise Design

Understand theories of Enterprise Design including strategy, themes, practise, and framework. This will also cover the stages in the Enterprise Design process, prepare, Discover, define, ideate, validate, implement and Deliver.

Enterprise Design & Relationship Challenge

Understand the Relationship challenges between enterprise design and Technology focusing on Humanizing technology and Information systems for Enterprise Design.

On completion of this module learners will have been enabled to:

Distinguish between the various types of innovation and differing creative processes utilised in organisations
Evaluate the link between innovation and creativity and demonstrate the application of creative and innovative strategies in a variety of contexts.
Investigate and appraise innovation opportunities and an ability to comprehend and manage innovation strategies.
Appraise the role of intrapreneurship and its importance within an organisation.
Investigate how new innovations are developed within an organisation
Evaluate the importance of teamwork in organisations and the various roles involved in developing new innovations.

This module will be assessed via 100% Continuous Assessment.

Reassessment Opportunity

Where the combined marks of the assessment and examination do not reach the pass mark the learner will be required to repeat the element of assessment that they failed. Reassessment materials will be published on Moodle after the Examination Board Meeting and will be aligned to the MIMLOs and learners will be capped at 40% unless there are personal mitigating circumstances.
