The Human Resources Management (HRM) module provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the principles and practices essential for effectively managing an organization’s workforce. Key topics include recruitment and selection, employee development, performance management, compensation and benefits, and labour relations. Students learn how to align HR strategies with organisational goals, foster a positive workplace culture, and navigate the legal and ethical considerations of human resource practices.

Through case studies and practical exercises, this module equips students with the skills to address HR challenges and optimise human capital, preparing them for successful careers in HR management and organisational leadership.

Module Details

On completion of this module learners will have been enabled to:

  1. Compare and contrast the evolution of human resources management with personnel management and the role of strategic HRM;
  2. Evaluate the various functions of the Human Resources function and their contribution to organizational effectiveness;
  3. Outline the importance of Strategic HRM and its links to organisational competitive advantage;
  4. Research current employment legislation and outline how it impacts on the employee/employer relationship.

Assessment
Percentage

This module will be assessed via 100% Continuous Assessment.

Where the combined marks of the assessment and examination do not reach the pass mark the learner will be required to repeat the element of assessment that they failed. Reassessment materials will be published on Moodle after the Examination Board Meeting and will be aligned to the MIMLOs and learners will be capped at 40% unless there are personal mitigating circumstances.
