The module aims to enable learners to engage with key Network Fundamentals concepts with the overall purpose to provide them with broad basic skills that can be applied to understanding the discourse of the Cybersecurity world in a variety of business contexts. The objective is the Network Fundamentals module is not seen as a module in isolation but one that has clear relationships with other award level modules.

Module Details

Minimum Intended Learning Outcomes (MIMLOS)

On completion of this module learners will have been enabled to:

Examine the risks associated with information technology Network Management
Apply basic knowledge in the procurement of hardware in order to run information technology Networks
Assess current and emerging networking trends across a wide variety of information technology areas
Produce, access and submit documents through Moodle, formatting and presentation of documents.

Assessments / Exams

The Network Fundamentals module is assessed via 60% Proctored Exam and a 40% Continuous Assessment utilizing practical assessments.

The exam will be 90 minutes in duration and the learner must attempt all questions.

Reassessment Opportunity

Where the combined marks of the assessment and examination do not reach the pass mark the learner will be required to repeat the element of assessment that they failed. Reassessment materials will be published on Moodle after the Examination Board Meeting and will be aligned to the MIMLOs and learners will be capped at 40% unless there are personal mitigating circumstances.
