The Operations Management module introduces students to the strategies and techniques involved in efficiently managing the production and delivery of goods and services. Key topics include process design, supply chain management, quality control, inventory management, and optimization of resources.

Students learn how to analyse and improve operational processes to increase productivity, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction. By exploring real-world challenges and case studies, this module equips students with practical tools and decision-making skills necessary for managing operations effectively across various industries.

Module Details

On completion of this module learners will have been enabled to:

  1. Evaluate how the management of any operations can be a source of competitive advantage for organisations;
  2. Analyse the key performance drivers in any operations for physical products or services and how this impact customers service;
  3. Debate the importance of designing and developing operations and its basic components such as process design and jobs design;
  4. Discuss the importance of operations strategies and its impact in the operations design and the performance of the organization.
  5. Outline the importance of the co-ordination between other core business functions such as marketing and distribution and the operations manager for the successful management of organizations.

This module will be assessed via 100% Continuous Assessment.

Where the combined marks of the assessment and examination do not reach the pass mark the learner will be required to repeat the element of assessment that they failed. Reassessment materials will be published on Moodle after the Examination Board Meeting and will be aligned to the MIMLOs and learners will be capped at 40% unless there are personal mitigating circumstances.
