The Project Management Environment module in a business degree provides students with a thorough understanding of the principles, processes, and tools essential for successful project management across various industries. Key topics include project lifecycle phases, stakeholder management, risk assessment, resource allocation, and performance measurement. Students learn to apply project management methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall, and gain insights into the importance of effective communication and teamwork in project settings.

Through practical exercises and case studies, this module emphasises the critical role of project managers in achieving project objectives, managing constraints, and delivering value to stakeholders. By the end of the course, students will be equipped with the skills necessary to lead and manage projects effectively in today’s dynamic business environment.

Module Details

On completion of this module the learner will be able to:

  • Evaluate and recommend tools for the successful completion of a project;
  • Design and implement procedures for the effective management of project quality and risk;
  • Resolve issues with project leadership and the project team;
  • Research and evaluate project theories and methodologies;

Appraise the role of the project manager and project management.

Assessment
Percentage

This module will be assessed via a 50% Proctored Written Examination and 50% Continuous Assessment.

Where the combined marks of the assessment and examination do not reach the pass mark the learner will be required to repeat the element of assessment that they failed. Reassessment materials will be published on Moodle after the Examination Board Meeting and will be aligned to the MIMLOs and learners will be capped at 40% unless there are personal mitigating circumstances.
