Course Details

Applicants will be admitted onto the bachelor of business degree once they have produced evidence to satisfy the following entry criteria:

  • A grade H5 or above in two higher level leaving certificate subjects together with a minimum of O6/H7 in four other subjects. This should include:
    • A grade of O6/ H7 or above in Leaving Certificate English,
    • A grade O6/H7 or above in Mathematics;

OR

  • Holders of a FETAC/QQI major award Level 5 Certificate in Business (or equivalent) or QQI/FETAC major award Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Business (or equivalent) can apply for entry onto the programme.
  • English language competency to CEFRL B2+ (IELTS 6) for international students whose first language is not English.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Students holding a relevant cognate Certificate, Diploma or other relevant third level qualification may qualify for entry to the second or third year of degree programme.

Applicants seeking advanced entry on the basis of RPL should send copies of their examination transcripts and other relevant documentation along with their application form to the Admissions Office. All applications are considered on a case by case basis.

Business Degree Option 1 : Full Time

Location: On Campus, Dublin 2

Timetable: Typically, 3 full days per week, lectures scheduled between 9am and 5pm, delivered over 3 academic years

Suitable for:

  • Recent School leavers, those progressing straight from 2nd level education to 3rd level
  • International students who require a visa to remain in Ireland for the purposes of completing the programme

Fees:

€4,650 – Irish/European Nationals

€4,650 – Non-EU nationals residing in Ireland (stamp 2)

€6,650* – Non-EU applicants applying from outside of Ireland

*Please note the fee is for the year of entry only. The 2nd and subsequent years will be charged at the Irish/European National course fees.

All fees are payable per academic year of study.

 

Business Degree Option 2 : Blended Online

Location: Online/Remote/Hybrid

Timetable: Typically, 2 evenings per week, Live lectures scheduled between 6.30pm-9.30pm, delivered over 3 academic years. Learners will also be required to attend lectures one Saturday per month during the academic term.

Suitable for:

Full-time professionals/mature learners who need to address their education skills for tomorrow’s workplace

Fees: €2,950

 

Business Degree Option 3 : Part-time

Location: On Campus, Dublin 2

Timetable: Typically, 2 evenings per week, lectures scheduled between 6.30pm-9.30pm, delivered over 4 academic years

Suitable for:

Full-time professionals/mature learners who need to address their education skills for tomorrow’s workplace but prefer traditional class-based learning

Fees: €2,450

Please note also that there is tax relief for Irish income tax payers at the standard rate of 20% on all fees exceeding €1,000 and up to €7,000. Further details on Revenue-approved tax relief on tuition fees.

As Dean of the College of Business, Dr. Nigel Callinan leads the Bachelor in Business program with extensive experience in both education and industry.

Dr. Callinan’s career includes roles with Google, Microsoft, and Irish Life, and his teaching experience spans Ireland and South Korea, giving him a global perspective that enriches the curriculum for Bachelor in Business students.

Mel has lectured taxation subjects for ACCA examinations since 1992. He is highly exam focused in his approach, and is admired for his personable, and practical teaching style.

Mel is the author of the well-regarded Kilkenny Tax Publications textbooks and revision kits for TX and ATX which are popular with Tax students throughout the country.

He is also an experienced examiner, having spent several years as examiner for the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ireland and the Irish Tax Institute.

Alison McDonnell is a marketing professional and has taught in a number of colleges and schools in Dublin. She has over 20 years’ experience in marketing, business development and teaching in both the not-for-profit and for-profit sector.

She has worked with organisations such as Diageo Ireland, CDETB, Dublin College of Advance Studies, Amnesty International, Marriage Equality, Pavee Point, TENI, SVP Ireland and the Irish Wheelchair Association. Alison holds a B.Sc in Business Management from IT Tallaght, a MFA in Photography from Ulster University, and a Executive Masters in Marketing from DCU.

Margaret Dineen

Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA®), MSc in Psychology (ABA), BA in Psychology

Margaret Dineen is a lecturer at City Colleges Dublin, specialising in Management, Business Mathematics, and Supply Chain Management for undergraduate programmes. With over two decades of experience in the food sector, she is the founder and Director of Blue Sky Food Consulting, leading projects in operational , Finance excellence, procurement, and strategic business development. Margaret holds a BSc in Food Business, a HDip in Business & Financial Information Systems, and is a chartered management accountant with Chartered Institute of Management accountants . Her business and academic work is informed by practical experience supporting Irish SMEs and national agencies, including project consulting for Bord Bia’s Talent Academy Masters programmes and advisory roles for An Rialálaí Agraibhia – the Agri-Food Regulator.

She has published industry analysis and practical guides on supply chain strategy, talent development, and operational improvement for the Irish food sector. Margaret is also the founder of the Irish Food Trade Connect Forum, an initiative dedicated to trade development and education. Her professional interests span management education, commercial mediation, and digital transformation within the food industry.

I have over thirty years of experience in IT management, cybersecurity, and digital transformation, having previously held senior roles including Head of IT and Digital Transformation Consultant.
I teach modules in Management Information Systems and IT Essentials, including Data Protection, with a strong focus on real-world application and emerging technologies. My teaching integrates current industry practices with academic theory to help students understand how technology supports organisational strategy and resilience.
My professional interests include cybersecurity governance, digital innovation, and the ethical use of artificial intelligence in education. I hold professional certifications including PRINCE2 Foundation, ITIL v4 Foundation, and ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity, as well as a QQI Level 7 Special Purpose Award in Cybersecurity with Distinction.

Colman graduated with a Mechanical Engineering Degree from the College of Technology, Bolton Street, Dublin (now part of the Technological University Dublin). He followed this with post graduate qualifications in Industrial Engineering from University College Dublin and in Business Administration from University College Galway.

Colman spent over 30 years working in the School of Engineering at the Dundalk Institute of Technology, first as a lecturer and in recent years as Head of Department of Electronic and Mechanical Engineering.

His teaching experience ranges from product design and development to operations management and analysis. He has a keen interest in entrepreneurship and in fostering a creative spirit among students.

He has broadened his teaching practice by participating in exchange programmes across a number of Universities in Europe.
In his industrial experience, Colman has worked as an engineer with Jacobs International and Amdahl Computers.
